Rock Climbing Gyms in Kobe

If you’re looking for a new hobby to get otaku over Japan is full of options, and rock climbing is one of the more adventurous ones to try. Before advancing to some of the more challenging routes located among the country’s vast mountain ranges, why not get your start right in the city! Kobe is home to a few reputable indoor climbing gyms that offer various options for all skill levels. If bouldering, top-roping, or even just hanging out in rock gyms is your thing then give these city climbing spots a try!

Most gyms provide a training video and demonstration for first-time visitors. They also offer equipment for rent, so all you have to do is show up and be ready to climb!

Gravity Research

Definitely one of the more well-known names in Japan climbing culture, Gravity Research has gyms all over the country. The majority of this gym is dedicated to bouldering with a small but challenging rope-climbing section. First time visitors have the opportunity to purchase a one-hour hands-on lesson with an experienced climbing staff.

Novoliva SG

Novolina SG began in 2010 as a climbing gym for children and has since evolved to include adult classes and a blend of both children and adult activities. There are a multitude of lessons to take as well as different climbing options. The main focus of this gym is on bouldering.

This gym offers exclusively bouldering opportunities. With so many routes to choose from you won’t be bored! From vertical walls to 130 degrees and other inverted wall options, you can certainly start on some of the less challenging routes and keep coming back to build up your experience and strength! Staff are happy to assist you and there are classes available!
