If you are looking for something to do in Hiroshima over Golden Week, why not drop in on the Hiroshima Flower Festival? Every year Hiroshima’s Peace Boulevard is closed to traffic and for the duration of the festival is used for parades, dancing, music and food stalls to entertain nearly two million attendees.
Hiroshima Flower Festival began in 1977, and has grown into one of the largest events in Hiroshima. The original event theme was:
- Make Hiroshima full of flowers, greens, and music.
- Share the brightness and dignity of life with all people.
- Appeal for a warm-hearted cultural and personnel interchange from Hiroshima to the world.
The festival includes multiple stages of performers and entertainment, many shops, a small zoo, and other attractions along Peace Boulevard and in Hiroshima Peace Memorial Park.
