I was surprised to learn there are only two 100 percent natural hot spring facilities on the Miura Peninsula. Enoshima Island Spa is one of these and even more rare, was the fact they have an onsen pool included in the indoor/outdoor pool facility. This made it possible for our whole family to enjoy a dip in the “Onsen” with our bathing suits on. The hot spring comes from 1500 meters below this ancient island and the view of Mr. Fuji on the clear day we went was stunning.
We took the Tokaido line from Shinagawa to Fujisawa and then the Odakyu line to Katase Enoshima station and from there it was a 10 minute walk over the bridge to the island. The Enoshima Island Spa is is tucked to the right just before the entrance to Enoshima Island and the Shiatsu foot massage from the Yumemi salon, light aromatherapy oil treatment you can get at the Being Teng Spa and the simple pleasure in the year-round heated pools makes this a must for anyone wanting to get away from the hustle and bustle of busy Japan. There is a strict no-tattoo policy at the spa and children over six are welcome on any day other than Sunday.
Entrance is 2650 yen but a discounted ticket (2000 yen) is available for clients of the H&R Group and Relo Japan, and readers of JIS via Jarman International KK .
